Wide receiver Mecole Hardman is set to rejoin the Kansas City Chiefs after agreeing to a one-year contract extension. This comes after his crucial touchdown in Super Bowl LVIII.
After an underwhelming stint with the New York Jets, Hardman was traded back to the Chiefs last season. Despite losing his spot with the Jets, he quickly became pivotal upon his return to Kansas City, securing the team’s back-to-back championships with an overtime touchdown from a stellar Patrick Mahomes throw.
The 26-year-old has been a key player for the Chiefs over the past five seasons, covering more than 2,000 yards and scoring 16 touchdowns in various roles.
In 2022, Hardman excelled as a wide receiver with impressive yardage stats until signing with the Jets, where he was traded after only six games. Controversy arose when he was accused of leaking the Jets’ game plans to the Philadelphia Eagles before his departure.
Superstar cornerback Sauce Gardner initially made the accusation in a now-deleted tweet: “We ain’t gon talk about how our offensive gameplan got leaked vs. the Eagles.” Punter Thomas Morstead also hinted at the issue, advising caution with information from “disgruntled former employees.”
Hardman was signed to a one-year contract with the Jets, expected to start. However, he was eventually replaced by undrafted rookie Xavier Gibson, leading to a decrease in his playing time each week.
