Max Verstappen offered George Russell strong words of support after privately comforting the Mercedes driver on Sunday. Russell started the race in pole position, but a few costly mistakes saw him fall to third behind Verstappen and Lando Norris.

The Circuit Gilles Villeneuve hosted one of the most memorable qualifying sessions and races in recent memory over the weekend.

The three-way battle between Verstappen, Norris, and Russell for victory indicated that Red Bull’s dominance might be waning, even though Verstappen ultimately took the checkered flag.

Russell was successfully holding off intense pressure from Verstappen, both of whom started on the front row, having recorded the same lap time in Q3 for just the second time in F1 history.

However, Russell was left disappointed after making multiple errors, feeling he had squandered Mercedes’ first win since Sao Paolo in 2022.

Verstappen’s true colors shone through after he achieved the 60th victory of his F1 career and extended his lead in the hunt for a fourth consecutive Drivers’ Championship.

Despite stating that Mercedes had the fastest car in Montreal, the Dutchman reassured Russell that he would learn from the race.
