Nate Danielson is poised for a potential leap to the NHL. As the newest prospect, he appears primed for NHL action sooner rather than later.

Despite narrowly missing the Detroit roster following last season’s training camp, Danielson was reassigned to the Brandon Wheat Kings of the Western Hockey League before ultimately being traded to the Portland Winter Hawks, where he made quite an impression.

His potential addition to the Red Wings is significant, particularly given their lack of center depth; Danielson could provide an immediate offensive boost. Standing at 6-foot-2 and weighing 185 pounds, he also adds size to a lineup that isn’t among the largest in the league.

The likelihood of these promotions hinges on the free agency landscape. If players like Perron, Kane, Jeff Petry, and Justin Holl depart, it opens up spots for these young talents.

Financial constraints might prompt the Red Wings to make such moves if resources are limited. Detroit is projected to have a cap space of $24.6 million for the 2024-25 season. However, extensions for forward Lucas Raymond and defenseman Moritz Seider will likely consume a significant portion of that space. Nonetheless, the mentioned players could make an immediate impact on a roster that is poised for several changes this offseason.
