Former Georgia football tight end Brock Bowers earns a nickname with the Las Vegas Raiders.
The Georgia Bulldogs had eight players drafted this year, including tight end Brock Bowers, who was selected by the Las Vegas Raiders with the 13th overall pick in the first round. As rookies begin to settle in with their new teams, Bowers has already earned a nickname from his teammates.
Despite his stardom and success on the field, Bowers has always been known for his work ethic rather than being outspoken. He shows up every day and loves playing football, which led NFL star wide receiver Davante Adams to nickname him “BM,” short for “business man,” because “he doesn’t care about anything else but football,” according to Adams.
According to Levi Edwards of the Raiders, Bowers has been making plays, especially in open space, for the Las Vegas offense. This versatility aligns with his college career at Georgia, where he played tight end, slot, wide receiver, and even running back.
In one of his first interviews after being drafted, Bowers said, “I got to know so many different things moving positions and everything like that and playing defense too in high school. Even at Georgia, they moved me around a decent amount. It’s a lot of fun being moved around like that.”
The Raiders and Bowers agreed to a four-year, fully guaranteed deal worth $18.1 million, including a $10 million signing bonus and a fifth-year player option. Bowers is considered one of the greatest tight ends in college football history, reflected in his draft position and contract.
