The franchise made the announcement during the ceremony where they inducted the 46-year-old into their Hall of Fame.

After being drafted by the Patriots as the 199th pick in the 2000 draft, Brady led them to six Super Bowl victories.

“[The statue] will be placed in the plaza outside of the Hall of Fame to represent his legacy, not just as the greatest in franchise history, but as the greatest in NFL history,” said Patriots owner Robert Kraft.

Brady departed the Patriots in 2020 for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and helped them secure a Super Bowl win in his first season, earning his fifth Super Bowl MVP title.

He initially retired in 2022 but reversed his decision just six weeks later to play a 23rd and final NFL season.

“I am deeply thankful. I am Tom Brady. And I will always be a Patriot,” said Brady during the ceremony at the Patriots’ home stadium.

Brady played under former Patriots coach Bill Belichick throughout his tenure with the team.

“Let me be perfectly clear – there is no coach in the world I would rather have played for than Bill Belichick,” Brady added.

Belichick was present at the ceremony and expressed his gratitude: “Thank you for everything you’ve done for us. Thank you for everything you’ve done for me. And thank you for the example and inspiration you’ve provided us every day for 20 years. Congratulations.”

Brady holds the NFL records for most career regular-season pass attempts (12,050), completions (7,753), passing yards (89,214), and touchdown passes (649).

He has been named NFL MVP three times in his career.
