Four-star edge rusher Jayden Loftin commits to Tennessee football.
Tennessee football bolstered its edge rusher lineup by securing a commitment from four-star prospect Jayden Loftin on Wednesday.
Loftin, a senior at Somerville High School in New Jersey, stands 6-foot-4 and weighs 240 pounds. He selected Tennessee over offers from Wisconsin, Penn State, and Syracuse. According to 247Sports Composite, he is ranked as the No. 27 edge rusher and No. 344 player overall in the 2025 class.
Loftin is the 11th recruit to join Tennessee’s 2025 class, which also includes five-star quarterback George MacIntyre, four-star defensive lineman Ethan Utley, four-star wide receiver Radarious Jackson, four-star tight end Jack Van Doreselaer, three-star running back Justin Baker, three-star safety Sidney Walton, three-star offensive tackle Antoni Kade Ogumoro, three-star cornerback Dylan Lewis, three-star Joakim Dodson, and three-star cornerback Tyler Redmond.
Vols Continue to Secure Top Edge Rushers
Loftin’s commitment reinforces Tennessee’s streak of recruiting skilled edge rushers under coach Josh Heupel and defensive line coach Rodney Garner, who has developed numerous NFL players.
In the 2022 class, the Vols signed four-star prospects James Pearce and Joshua Josephs. Pearce earned first-team All-SEC honors last season and is projected as a top-10 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
The 2023 class included four-star signees Caleb Herring and Chandavian Bradley, while the 2024 class featured five-star signee Jordan Ross.
These five edge rushers are set to play together on Tennessee’s strong defensive line in the 2024 season.
Additionally, edge rusher Byron Young, who played under Heupel and Garner from 2021-22 after committing to Tennessee at the end of former coach Jeremy Pruitt’s tenure, was a first-team All-SEC performer and made the 2023 NFL All-Rookie team with the Los Angeles Rams.
