Oklahoma Softball: Analysis of Oklahoma’s Team Composition as of 2025
That leaves Oklahoma University with eight returning players for the 2025 season, alongside the eight freshmen who signed in the 2024 class, leaving five open roster spots for Coach Patty Gasso to fill through the transfer portal.
Despite losing 10 seniors, the Sooners will retain some experience as they prepare to compete in the SEC. Cydney Sanders will return as the team’s sole senior, entering her third year with the program after transferring from Arizona State following her freshman season.
Left-handed pitcher Kierston Deal will be the most seasoned arm in OU’s pitching staff, while redshirt junior Hannah Coor will continue in the outfield. Right-handed pitcher Paytn Monticelli is also set to return after pitching 19 1/3 innings for the Sooners last season.
Kasidi Pickering and Ella Parker gained valuable experience throughout 2024, providing a solid foundation for the 2025 team. Additionally, Maya Bland, primarily utilized as a pinch-runner, and Nelly McEnroe-Marinas, who redshirted due to injury last season, will be back in Norman next year.
Associate head coach and pitching coach Jennifer Rocha will integrate left-handed pitcher Audrey Lowry into her pitching staff from the talented 2024 freshman class.
In the infield, Oklahoma product Tia Milloy, Kadey McKay, Gabbie Garcia of OC Batbuster, and Sydney Barker from Rocklin, CA, are poised to compete for playing time.
The Sooners have also secured commitments from catchers Riley Zache and Corri Hicks, while local standout Chaney Helton is expected to bolster OU’s outfield.
The transfer portal window officially closes on June 17, with players required to enter by next Monday and able to commit to new programs in subsequent weeks.
