The Kansas City Royals suffered a 6-2 defeat against the Texas Rangers in a game highlighted by a tumultuous sixth inning at Globe Life Field.

Brady Singer began strongly for the Royals, pitching five innings and allowing just one run on three hits. He struck out four, walked two, and threw 89 pitches, 51 of them for strikes. Singer’s solid performance kept Kansas City competitive early in the game.

The Royals initially took the lead in the third inning when Kyle Isbel hit a 387-foot solo home run to right center. However, the Rangers responded in the fourth inning when Wyatt Langford’s double to center field allowed Adolis García to score, tying the game.

Kansas City briefly regained the lead in the fifth inning when Garrett Hampson’s single to left brought MJ Melendez home and advanced Hunter Renfroe to third base. However, the sixth inning proved disastrous for the Royals. Relief pitcher John Schreiber, who took the loss (3-2), surrendered three runs on three hits in just 0.1 innings of work. Langford’s single to left drove in García again, and Nathaniel Lowe moved to third. Jonah Heim then grounded into a fielder’s choice, scoring Lowe and putting the Rangers ahead 3-2.

The inning continued to unravel for the Royals as Marcus Semien doubled to left field, bringing in three more runs and extending the Rangers’ lead to 6-2. Semien was thrown out trying to stretch his hit into a triple, but the damage had been done. Despite efforts from hitters like Isbel and Hampson, the Royals couldn’t close the deficit.

Overall, Kansas City struggled offensively, managing just six hits and striking out twelve times, failing to capitalize on scoring opportunities throughout the game.

With this loss, Kansas City now trails by 7.0 games, slipping behind the Minnesota Twins to third place in the AL Central standings. They will aim to bounce back and regain momentum as they face the Rangers again tomorrow at 3:05 PM, looking to narrow the gap and improve their position in the division.
