The USC Trojans’ 2025 recruiting class started strong with three five-star recruits, making it one of the top classes in the country. However, the decommitments of Isaiah Gibson and Justus Terry have raised doubts about Julian Lewis’ commitment to USC.
Lewis, a highly regarded five-star recruit, committed to USC on August 22, 2023, marking a significant moment for the Trojans’ football program. Lincoln Riley saw Lewis as the future successor to Caleb Williams.
Despite being committed to USC, the Georgia native is keeping his options open, leading to speculation about his future. He’s visited Auburn (June 14) and Colorado (June 21), and recruitment predictions are shifting. According to the On3.com prediction machine, USC has only a 19.3 percent chance of retaining Lewis’ commitment, behind the Georgia Bulldogs (23.8 percent), Auburn Tigers (12.8 percent), and Alabama Crimson Tide (10.7 percent).
Given these developments, it’s important to consider potential USC Trojans targets if Lewis decommits this summer.
Bryce Underwood, QB, LSU Tigers Commit
Lincoln Riley previously turned down Bryce Underwood, highlighting the coaching staff’s preference for Lewis. Underwood, the top-rated quarterback recruit in the country according to On3.com and 247 Sports, is currently committed to LSU. If Lewis decommits, USC might reconsider Underwood, despite needing to mend the relationship after initially turning him away. Underwood previously showed interest in USC, which could make it a suitable long-term fit.
Husan Longstreet, QB, Texas A&M Commit
A major challenge for USC if Lewis decommits is that most top quarterbacks in the 2025 class are already committed. However, Lewis reopening his recruitment could prompt changes. Husan Longstreet, a California native from Centennial High School, is rated as the seventh-best quarterback by On3.com and the top 2025 recruit in California by 247 Sports. If Lewis decommits, Longstreet, who has regional ties and outperformed Lewis at the Elite 11 Finals, could be a strong replacement option for USC.
