Tennessee football secures commitment from top-tier four-star interior offensive lineman

Tennessee football made significant strides in recruiting last week, securing a commitment from four-star defensive lineman Charles House from Charlotte, North Carolina. The 6-foot-3, 300-pound player chose the Vols over SEC rivals Alabama, Auburn, Florida, and Georgia.

On Monday, the Vols landed another major commitment with elite four-star interior offensive lineman Douglas Utu announcing his decision. The Las Vegas, Nevada native selected Tennessee over national programs such as Alabama, Michigan, Nebraska, and Washington.

Utu shared his commitment on Twitter/X, stating, “Proud to be announcing that I will be committing my craft and talents to the University of Tennessee! You can’t spell UTU without UT! Go Vols!”

Ranked by On3 Sports, the 6-foot-4, 315-pound lineman from Bishop Gorman High School is considered the No. 2 player in Nevada, the No. 3 interior offensive lineman, and the No. 53 overall player in the 2025 recruiting class.

Charles Power, On3’s Director of Scouting and Rankings, praised Utu, describing him as “a standout on the offensive line at powerhouse Bishop Gorman for several seasons. Although he projects to play inside long-term, Utu has primarily worked at tackle for Gorman, making him polished and experienced in pass protection. He is physically developed and comes into college with a higher floor due to his coaching and competitive football experience. Utu is a solid athlete with the versatility to play multiple spots on the line if needed.”

Utu is the third offensive lineman to join what could become an elite offensive line class, joining Antoni Ogumoro and Nic Moore in the 2025 class. Coach Josh Heupel has prioritized recruiting top talent for both sides of the trenches.
