OU softball has secured the commitment of outfielder Abby Dayton from Utah through the transfer portal.
OU had a pressing offseason requirement for outfield depth, which they tackled on Sunday by bringing in Abby Dayton, a transfer from Utah.
In 2024, Dayton topped the Pac-12 with a .431 batting average and recorded a 1.109 OPS. She also contributed significantly with 28 RBIs and 38 runs scored, hitting two home runs and six triples. Her defensive record was flawless, making no errors and delivering five assists throughout the season.
Originally from Riverside, California, Dayton excelled at Norco High School, the same institution in Southern California that produced Kinzie Hansen.
She is well-acquainted with the Gasso family, having played under OU coach Patty Gasso’s son, DJ, during the 2023 season when he served as the Utes’ hitting coach. Paige Parker, a former standout for the Sooners, now serves as Utah’s pitching coach.
OU faces the departure of outfield starters Jayda Coleman and Rylie Boone, leaving Kasidi Pickering as the sole returning starter in that position.
Abby Dayton has two seasons of eligibility left.
