BYU running back recruit Cale Breslin talks about his official visit

Over the past weekend, BYU welcomed a substantial number of official visitors to its campus. Among them was running back Cale Breslin, a key member of BYU’s 2025 recruiting class who committed to the school in May. We had the opportunity to speak with Breslin about his official visit to BYU.

“BYU’s campus and facilities made an incredible impression on Breslin,” he remarked upon his first visit. “I’m eager to start there in January.” Planning to enroll early for Spring camp, Breslin highlighted the unique culture at BYU during his visit. “I spent time with fellow running backs and met new people,” he noted. “BYU stands out as a place of focus, selflessness, and a commitment to winning. The coaching staff shares this mindset. From our arrival in Provo to our departure, it was clear that Coach Kalani is a remarkable leader, and everyone is fully invested in his vision.”

Breslin had productive discussions with BYU head coach Kalani Sitake and his future position coach, Harvey Unga. “My meeting with Coach Kalani was excellent,” Breslin recalled. “He detailed his vision for BYU football clearly. He’s not only a great coach but a great person. I interacted with nearly every coach, and their dedication is evident. I spent considerable time with Coach Harvey, who has been mentoring me and guiding my path. I can’t speak highly enough of his leadership. I’m excited to begin in January.”

Reflecting on his BYU visit, Breslin expressed surprise at the BYU Broadcasting Building. “It’s impressive,” he said. “At over 80,000 square feet, it rivals Hollywood production studios and reaches over 30 million homes. The storytelling about athletes and their efforts is exceptional and deserves more recognition.”

Breslin’s commitment is a significant addition for running backs coach Harvey Unga, fitting the profile of successful BYU running backs. With potential to contribute early alongside LJ Martin, his early enrollment offers the opportunity to learn the playbook and potentially make an impact as a freshman.

Breslin, a three-star recruit from Las Vegas, chose BYU over offers from Wisconsin, San Diego State, Indiana, Syracuse, Hawaii, FAU, and UConn. His recruitment intensified, with Wisconsin extending an offer shortly before he committed to BYU. Rather than prolonging the process to consider more offers, Breslin decided to end his recruitment and commit to BYU.

As a junior, Breslin earned First Team All-Southern Nevada Preps honors by rushing for more than 1,200 yards.
