Texas is in the top two choices for Kansas State transfer forward Arthur Kaluma.

Texas basketball and head coach Rodney Terry welcomed Arthur Kaluma, a former Kansas State Wildcats junior transfer forward, for an official visit earlier this week in Austin. Kaluma completed his visit on the afternoon of June 25.

This visit to Texas follows another recent visit Kaluma took to see the SMU Mustangs in Dallas.

Kaluma expressed his positive impressions of Austin and the Texas campus to Horns247 on June 25 (paid content), mentioning that despite being from nearby Dallas, this was his first opportunity to explore the city. Standing at 6-foot-7 and weighing 220 pounds, the third-year forward also noted his familiarity with new Texas junior point guard Jordan Pope from their high school matchups.

Discussing his potential role, Kaluma mentioned being a versatile player akin to Timmy Allen, adaptable to various positions and capable of contributing immediately. Texas head coach Rodney Terry and his staff highlighted the opportunity for Kaluma to play a significant role, possibly at the three or four positions, where he can handle the ball, create offense, and distribute effectively.

Kaluma sees potential in Texas’ roster, particularly with the addition of impactful transfers who could start and help the team compete strongly in the upcoming season in the SEC. The prospect of making a deep tournament run and playing close to home next season are appealing factors for Kaluma.

Kaluma appears to be nearing a decision between SMU and Texas, with a choice expected soon as he reportedly plans to conclude his summer visitations.
