NORMAN — The departure of OU infielder Avery Hodge, who transferred to LSU, left the Sooners with a gap in their middle infield. However, Head Coach Patty Gasso quickly addressed this need by securing BYU transfer Ailana Agbayani on Tuesday.

Agbayani had an impressive season with the Cougars in 2024, batting .424 with five home runs, a .534 on-base percentage, and a .594 slugging percentage. Additionally, she pitched with a 5.78 ERA, striking out 17 batters over 23 innings.

Expected to play shortstop for the Sooners, Agbayani is Gasso’s third transfer portal commit in four days, joining North Carolina catcher Isabela Emerling and Utah outfielder Abby Dayton. This leaves Gasso with two more roster spots to fill.

Notably, Agbayani had a standout performance against the Sooners on April 12, recording four hits, including two doubles, and two RBIs. She will have two years of eligibility remaining at OU.
