OU softball strengthens their roster by acquiring pitcher Isabella Smith from Campbell through the transfer portal.
NORMAN — The pieces continue to fall into place for OU softball.
On Wednesday, the Sooners bolstered their pitching depth as former Campbell right-hander Isabella Smith announced her transfer to OU via Instagram.
Smith is the fourth transfer portal commit in five days for head coach Patty Gasso, leaving one more roster spot open. She joins North Carolina catcher Isabela Emerling, Utah outfielder Abby Dayton, and BYU infielder Ailana Agbayani as new Sooner additions.
Gasso is expected to use the final spot to recruit an ace pitcher, following the expiration of Kelly Maxwell’s eligibility.
In 2024, Smith posted a 26-7 record with a 1.56 ERA in 206 innings for the Fighting Camels. OU will also return Kierston Deal, who had a 14-1 record with a 1.97 ERA in 78 ⅓ innings last season.
During her three seasons at Campbell, Smith recorded a 70-28 record with a 2.37 ERA, 638 strikeouts, and 161 walks in 593 ⅓ innings. She began her collegiate career at James Madison.
