On Monday afternoon, Oklahoma State unveiled its 2024 football roster, which now includes transfers and true freshmen.

Among the new additions to the Cowboys’ defensive backs is Reed DeQuasie, a former safety from Oklahoma and a standout from Carl Albert (OK).

DeQuasie spent the 2023 season at Oklahoma, having joined as a preferred walk-on. During his freshman year, he played a total of seven defensive snaps, all against Arkansas State and Tulsa, and also saw action in the game against West Virginia, according to OU’s website.

The Choctaw, OK native received a defensive grade of 61.2 from Pro Football Focus for his freshman efforts. His uncle, Brent DeQuasie, played for the Sooners from 1991 to 1995 after graduating from Midwest City (OK) High School.

In mid-April, DeQuasie announced his entry into the transfer portal after redshirting his initial season. Although he did not publicly announce his new destination, he has apparently joined Oklahoma State, as indicated by his spot on the Cowboys’ updated roster.

Standing 6-foot-1 and weighing 200 pounds, DeQuasie brings valuable size and versatility to OSU’s safety group. In high school, he played quarterback and linebacker, leading Carl Albert to a Class 5A state title during his senior year in 2022.

DeQuasie is the second former OU player to transfer to OSU this offseason, joining junior wide receiver Gavin Freeman, who is also from the OKC metro area. According to the Cowboys’ Monday roster update, DeQuasie will wear number 49 and Freeman will wear number 17 in 2024.
