Report: Dodgers Identify Their ‘Main Concern’ Ahead of Trade Deadline
The Los Angeles Dodgers have various options as they approach the MLB trade deadline on July 30. Many expect the Dodgers to make a significant move to secure their eighth title.
A failure to win the championship would render the 2024 season a disappointment for many. This urgency could lead to major roster upgrades in the infield and outfield, but the Dodgers might also aim to bolster their starting rotation. Despite having apparent depth, Jon Heyman of the New York Post considers the rotation to be L.A.’s “main concern” at the trade deadline.
Given the critical role of pitching in the postseason, acquiring a front-line starter could be the key to the Dodgers’ success. If they pursue a starting pitcher, their top target is expected to be Chicago White Sox southpaw Garrett Crochet.
Though the White Sox have reportedly rejected one Dodgers proposal for Crochet, there is still time to complete a trade. Adding Crochet could make the Dodgers’ rotation, already strong, arguably the best in baseball. He could join Tyler Glasnow, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Gavin Stone, and Bobby Miller, providing the depth needed to win the Commissioner’s Trophy.
Even if the Dodgers don’t land Crochet, failing to acquire a major arm would be seen as a letdown given their efforts so far.
