Five-star safety from Ohio sets commitment date: Implications for Ohio State football
COLUMBUS, Ohio — Five-star safety Trey McNutt has announced that he will make his college decision on July 19.
McNutt will choose between Florida, Ohio State, Oregon, USC, and Texas A&M. He is ranked as the No. 19 overall player and the No. 1 safety in the 2025 class, hailing from Shaker Heights. His upcoming decision in July doesn’t bode well for Ohio State, as the Buckeyes have reportedly been trailing in his recruitment for several months. Notably, he did not join the official visit wave to Columbus in May and June.
If McNutt chooses the Ducks, they would have three five-star commitments, including three top 50 recruits who were previously Ohio State targets.
Ohio State currently has three safety commits: Faheem Delane, Cody Haddad, and Deshawn Stewart.
