OU softball acquires Louisiana pitcher Sam Landry through the transfer portal.

NORMAN — OU softball added another pitcher Saturday, but it wasn’t NiJaree Canady.

The Sooners secured a commitment from former Louisiana right-hander Sam Landry, who announced her decision via Instagram.

Landry is head coach Patty Gasso’s fifth transfer portal addition this offseason, filling OU’s final roster spot. She joins Campbell pitcher Isabella Smith, North Carolina catcher Isabela Emerling, Utah outfielder Abby Dayton, and BYU infielder Ailana Agbayani as transfer commits to the Sooners.

In 2024, Landry achieved a career-best 24 wins with a 2.09 ERA, giving up 26 extra-base hits over 127 1/3 innings. She led Louisiana in strikeouts (165) and limited opposing batters to a .219 average.

OU also returns Kierston Deal, who posted a 14-1 record with a 1.97 ERA in 78 ⅓ innings last season.
