The Philadelphia Eagles are poised to be serious contenders for the Super Bowl in 2024. The team boasts a roster filled with talent, blending seasoned stars and promising young players. Among those expected to make a significant impact is star cornerback Darius Slay.
Since joining the Eagles in 2020, Slay, a six-time Pro Bowler, has been outstanding and earned Pro Bowl honors each of the last three seasons. While he is set to play a major role this season, he hinted to NBC Sports Philadelphia’s Dave Zangaro that his career might be nearing its end.
“Ahh (expletive). Not too many,” Slay remarked. “I’m not going to just keep playing. I’m going to let these young guys eat. That’s what I’m here for, to make sure these guys get there. And when my time is up, it’s up. I’m ready to be a full-time daddy and stuff. I got a daughter who’s running track. Ready to have my track hat on. I’m trying to get into tennis too so I can be like a tennis dad and all kind of great stuff.”
With two years left on his contract and being 33 years old, it wouldn’t be surprising if this is his last deal. Hopefully, Slay continues to excel for as long as he chooses to play.
