Dallas Cowboys lose an important part of local media before the 2024 NFL season, leaving fans saddened.

As the Dallas Cowboys gear up for the 2024 NFL season, fans are primarily concerned about whether two of their key players, Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb, will be on the field. Both players are seeking significant contract extensions, which could come from the Cowboys or another team through a potential trade.

Regardless of their presence, the Cowboys must continue with their preparations. Players and coaches need to get in shape and ready for the season, and even the beat writers covering the team must brace themselves for a long and demanding season.

However, one media member who has covered the team for the past five years will not be participating: Michael Gehlken. Cowboys fans and notable national media journalists took to social media to express their appreciation for his coverage of the team.

Many Cowboys fans left heartfelt messages under his social media post announcing his departure as the team’s beat writer for the Dallas Morning News.

Gehlken has previously covered the Los Angeles Chargers and Las Vegas Raiders. As he relocates to Washington, D.C. for family reasons, it’s likely he’ll soon find a job covering the Commanders.
