Well, we made it! High five a friend. We endured the collapse. We watched the suddenly-hated San Francisco 49ers lose a Super Bowl we felt like the Philadelphia Eagles should have been playing in (and, we enjoyed it). We traveled from the Senior Bowl through Top 30 Visits and Pro Days. We eventually celebrated an exciting NFL Draft class. Free agents were signed. We’re excited about those as well.

Then…. There was the stuff that transpired off of the field.

Whenever one of the NFL’s high-profile teams is winning (or losing), there will be public discussion. The Eagles organization knows that well. That’s some of the result of playing in a football-crazy town for a passionate fan base, but there were times last season when what we were seeing ventured over into what we see on reality television.

That stuff has been mentioned time and time again. You have read those stories 50 times or more, so there’s no need to revisit the areas where we have seen more drama than necessary. We’ll instead ask a question. What comes next? As always, the answer comes in curing the immediate issues.

Philadelphia Eagles narratives are reaching the national media.

We remain calm despite the growing anxiety among our curious and sometimes rowdy fan base. We refuse to fuel the negativity of ‘Negadelphia’. We understand that some of the stirred-up concerns stem from a relatively slow news cycle, but as training camp starts, the discussions are not fading. In fact, they have intensified from various media outlets.

Nick Sirianni’s job security might be questioned, but we know what he needs to do to retain it. Meanwhile, there are those who support him and think it’s unfair to put him on the hot seat. However, former player Emmanuel Acho seems to believe otherwise.

Do you agree?

Dianna Russini contributes further to the discussion. In her “What I’m Hearing” column, she addressed several Eagles-related issues, including the idea that Philadelphia’s locker-room concerns existed well before any losing streak or collapse.

You can listen to the full conversation on her podcast, where she also discussed Jalen Hurts’s relationship with Sirianni:

“We’ve seen Jalen Hurts on the sideline with Nick Sirianni, and they were not in conflict. However, there is definitely a difference in personality. I’d describe it as: The relationship is still a work in progress. Last year, there was some disconnect between them due to their differing personalities. Nick is very emotional, while Jalen is very private. They are different people, which is fine, but they need to be on the same page regarding the offense.”

She also covered topics such as Howie Roseman hiring Nick’s coordinators for him and Brian Johnson being restricted by having to run Nick Sirianni’s offense. ‘Restricted’ is our word, not hers.

Russini’s insights show that the Eagles remain a compelling topic for the national media, even if the local media is getting tired of the gossip. Stories about Jalen and Nick, and Sirianni’s job security, are expected to continue into training camp.
