Now that the dust has settled with the Sooners’ transfer portal additions, NiJaree Canady appears to be the final piece on OU’s mind as July begins.
OU started the offseason with five open transfer portal spots and has filled four of them by bringing in catcher Isabela Emerling, outfielder Abby Dayton, shortstop Ailana Agbayani, and pitcher Isabella Smith.
Things have gone quiet since the initial reports that Canady entered the transfer portal after leading Stanford to the Women’s College World Series. As the National Player of the Year, Canady is undoubtedly a highly sought-after prospect, which is why her decision is expected to take longer than the others. While pitchers like Alex Storako and Hope Tratwein announced their decisions to join the Sooners in June of their respective years, sometimes it takes much longer.
