The Tennessee Vols are emerging as early contenders for 2026 four-star wide receiver Travis Johnson. Standing at 6-foot-3 and weighing 165 pounds, Johnson hails from Chesapeake, VA, and is ranked by 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 15 wide receiver in the nation and the No. 6 player in Virginia. He is also rated as the No. 122 overall player in the 2026 recruiting class.

Currently, six schools are catching Johnson’s attention: Auburn, Miami, Michigan, Penn State, South Carolina, and Tennessee. Based on his recent comments to On3, the Vols might be at the top of that list.

Johnson mentioned to On3 that he has developed a strong relationship with Vols wide receivers coach Kelsey Pope, stating that they talk multiple times a day. He added that his relationship with Pope is probably “the strongest” one he has with any position coach so far.

Although it’s still early in Johnson’s recruitment, the Vols seem to be firmly in the running to secure the four-star wide receiver. As of now, Tennessee has no players committed to its 2026 recruiting class.
