Four-star safety Lagonza Hayward from Lyons, Georgia, has committed to the Tennessee Volunteers for 2025.

Toombs County safety Lagonza Hayward committed to the Tennessee Volunteers on Saturday afternoon, choosing them over Florida and Georgia. Despite exploring other options over the summer, Tennessee’s consistent messaging prevailed.

Hayward has long favored the Tennessee Volunteers, as they were the first to offer him a scholarship. Tennessee had been his frontrunner for a while, though the official visit season introduced several twists in his recruitment. During his junior year, the talented defender recorded 48 tackles, including three for loss, and three interceptions. Standing at 6-foot-1 and 205 pounds, Hayward can play safety in college or potentially grow into a linebacker. He is ranked as the No. 100 prospect in the 2025 class by the On3 Industry Rankings.
