This offseason, a beloved former Philadelphia Eagles player decided to retire from football.
Jason Kelce, who was drafted by the Eagles in the sixth round of the 2011 NFL Draft, emerged as one of the top centers in the league. During his career with the Eagles, Kelce earned seven Pro Bowl selections, was named an All-Pro six times, and played a key role in leading the team to a Super Bowl victory.
Although Kelce retired from his illustrious playing career, general manager Howie Roseman mentioned on “Up and Adams” that Kelce would be an excellent addition to the team’s scouting staff.
“Jason would excel in any football role,” Roseman said. “He would be a fantastic evaluator. I even tried to recruit him to work with me because he has a knack for assessing players. … I’m not kidding. During the draft, I asked him about a few centers we were interesEagles GM Howie Roseman Seeks to Bring Legendary Figure Back to Team in a New Capacityted in, and he immediately said, ‘I love Cam Jurgens.’ Fortunately, I only shared players I was high on with him, so he can’t suggest anyone outside of my preferences.”
Kelce, who was outstanding throughout his career with the Eagles, has remained connected with the team even after retiring. While he likely has a promising career in broadcasting ahead, it wouldn’t be surprising to see him take on a role with the Eagles in the future. His on-field success could translate into helping the team find top talent.
