The Houston Rockets and Golden State Warriors could be perfect trade partners.

The Houston Rockets are eager to build a win-now team, but making trades that aren’t major game-changers could still benefit the team in the meantime.

One minor move the Rockets could consider in the short term is trading their third-string center to the Golden State Warriors.

The Warriors might be desperate for a change at the big man position, looking to replace Kevon Looney, who has declined since their 2022 title run. The Rockets have a solid rotation of big men with Alperen Sengun, Steven Adams, and Jock Landale.

While Sengun is likely off-limits for the Warriors, and Houston might want to see Adams in action before making any moves, Landale could be a worthwhile option for Golden State.

Landale has excelled in Olympic play and has shown offensive potential at the NBA level, which could boost the Warriors’ offense from the center position. He has the potential to hit 3-pointers, making him an intriguing option for Golden State.

With Stephen Curry aging, Golden State might feel a sense of urgency to improve quickly. Landale could be a low-risk, buy-low center, and swapping Looney might be beneficial. Houston would gain a third center option with more championship experience.

Looney is also in the final year of his contract, so there would be no impact on financial flexibility heading into the next offseason.

While this move isn’t a major game-changer for Houston, it’s a low-risk option that could provide some benefit, and there’s a good chance Golden State would be interested.
