Occasionally, tuning into sports talk radio is totally worth it.

When you experience a truly wild sports radio moment, you can feel it instantly—there’s a distinct energy in the air, almost like magic. And when it involves your favorite team, that’s when it’s really special.

Enter Baker Mayfield.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback looked phenomenal against the Commanders in Week 1, sparking plenty of conversation. In particular, it got Cleveland Browns fans, exhausted and frustrated, talking about what could have been.

Things aren’t going great in Cleveland, and we’ve pretty much reached the point where people are openly saying that Mayfield is better than Deshaun Watson.

One Browns fan called into a Cleveland sports station to say exactly that, and it didn’t sit well with the host, who responded in classic sports radio fashion—with all the fiery, unrefined energy we’ve come to expect.

Baker Mayfield is driving Cleveland fans crazy—and it’s only Week 1.

Amazing!

On the one hand, this kind of reaction feels a bit outdated, like something from 1995. It’s hard to tell how many people still enjoy listening to hosts lose it, slamming their mics in frustration. I mean, it’s only Week 1. Really? There are 16 more weeks ahead, just this season alone. These guys are going to be taking calls comparing quarterbacks to Deshaun Watson for years.

Maybe there’s some backstory to why mentioning just one stat set the host off, but, let’s be honest—this is sports radio, so probably not.

Still, it makes for excellent Buccaneers content. Mayfield has finally found a team where he can shine, while the Browns are stuck paying one of the worst starting quarterbacks in the NFL over $70 million per season for the next two years. Just imagine how brutal the calls will be when the Browns are paying Watson that much not to even be on the team.

Not sure who would win, but the best break the Browns got this year was not having to face the Bucs.
