Richardson’s lack of experience was evident as he threw three interceptions in the Colts’ 16-10 loss to the Packers.
GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — In his first full season as a starter, Anthony Richardson is expected to make both exciting plays and rookie mistakes.
Unfortunately, the Indianapolis Colts quarterback made too many of the latter on Sunday, as the Colts remained winless after a 16-10 loss to the Green Bay Packers. Richardson threw three interceptions, including one on a Hail Mary attempt picked off by Evan Williams on the game’s final play.
“You can’t win games with multiple turnovers,” Richardson admitted. “That’s on me.”
Richardson completed 17 of 34 passes for 204 yards, throwing one touchdown but also the three interceptions. He also added 37 rushing yards on four carries.
Despite the mistakes, Richardson’s playmaking kept the Colts in contention until the final moments. He showed off his athleticism with an 11-yard scramble on a fourth-and-10 to keep the drive alive, and followed it up with a 4-yard touchdown pass to Alec Pierce with 1:47 remaining.
The Colts started their final drive from their own 41-yard line, but the Packers stayed cautious. Richardson had thrown a 60-yard touchdown to Pierce the previous week in the Colts’ 29-27 loss to the Houston Texans, with the ball traveling 63 yards in the air.
