After the Detroit Lions’ loss to the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship, a classmate of head coach Dan Campbell’s daughter shared the family’s address on Snapchat. This prompted Campbell and his family to list their five-bedroom, seven-bathroom Bloomfield Hills home for $4.5 million due to security concerns.
Campbell explained to Crain’s Detroit, “The house is beautiful with plenty of space on two acres, but people figured out where we lived after the loss.”
Following the defeat, the student posted the address with the caption, “Dumb f*** trying for it,” referencing Campbell’s decision to pass on two fourth-down field goals, which contributed to the Lions’ collapse from a 17-point halftime lead. The post alarmed Campbell’s daughter, leading to involvement from Lions and NFL security.
Later that night, after 11:00 p.m., individuals showed up at the family’s home, frightening Campbell’s daughter, who left for the evening, according to Bloomfield Township Police. Lyle Dungy, part of the NFL’s security team, informed the police that a classmate of Campbell’s daughter, a year younger and attending an elite private school, had posted the address. Police contacted the school’s security and spoke with the student’s mother about the situation.
