Cowboys QB Prescott Set to Become NFL’s Highest-Paid Player
The Dallas Cowboys have reached an agreement on a contract extension with quarterback Dak Prescott that will make him the highest-paid player in NFL history.
The 31-year-old Prescott has signed a four-year extension reportedly valued at $240 million, with $231 million of that total guaranteed and an $80 million signing bonus.
At an average of $60 million per season, Prescott will surpass the $55 million average annual salary recently signed by Joe Burrow, Jordan Love, and Trevor Lawrence.
His guaranteed amount of $231 million also sets a record, exceeding the $230 million guaranteed to Deshaun Watson by the Cleveland Browns in 2022 by just $1 million.
This deal, which extends through the end of the 2028 season, was announced just hours before Dallas kicked off their season with a 33-17 victory over the Browns.
“I hope after today we can stop discussing my finances,” Prescott said after completing 179 yards and a touchdown during the game. “Now we can focus on the team and the success we’re aiming for.”
