Andi Jackson’s impressive season continues to attract national attention.
The sophomore middle blocker for Nebraska volleyball has received recognition from her conference, as the Big Ten named her the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week following two successful home matches. This marks Jackson’s second weekly accolade in her collegiate career; she previously earned the Freshman of the Week honor on November 13 last season.
This week, Jackson shares the honors with Minnesota’s Julia Hanson and Penn State’s Izzy Starck. While Jackson received the Player of the Week award, Starck also earned recognition as Setter of the Week and Freshman of the Week. Nebraska has been strong in defensive accolades this season, with Jackson becoming the third Husker to win the Defensive Player of the Week award, joining middle blocker Rebekah Allick and libero Lexi Rodriguez.
Allick has received the honor twice this season, on September 2 and October 7, while Rodriguez was recognized on September 30.
Jackson’s recognition follows two standout performances in Lincoln, where Nebraska achieved victories over Illinois and Michigan. In those matches, she averaged 1.57 blocks per set and contributed three kills per set with a hitting percentage of .417.
In the sweep against Illinois, Jackson recorded six blocks and 11 kills with a .667 hitting percentage. Against Michigan, she added five blocks and 10 kills in a four-set win. This season, Jackson leads the nation with a hitting percentage of .472.
Jackson is determined to help the No. 2 Huskers maintain their momentum as they prepare for their next Big Ten matches, heading to Madison, Wisconsin, to face No. 7 Wisconsin.
