K-State’s Aliyah Carter (offensive), BYU’s Brielle Kemavor (defensive), and Iowa State’s Rachel Van Gorp (rookie) received weekly volleyball honors for the ninth week of the 2024 season.
Carter topped the Conference with 7.06 points per set (No. 4 nationally) and 6.56 kills per set (No. 2 nationally). She set a school record with 27 kills against then-No. 21 Utah, marking the highest kills in a four-set match during the rally-scoring era. Her 22nd kill against the Utes made her second all-time in career kills at K-State. In a five-set nationally-televised match against Iowa State, Carter became the first K-State player since 2011 to achieve 30 or more kills in a match, joining a select group of seven in school history. This marks her 10th Big 12 weekly honor, ranking ninth all-time, and her fifth as Offensive Player of the Week.
Kemavor led BYU’s defense with a career-high 12 blocks in their win at Colorado, averaging a national-best 3.00 blocks per set. She also contributed 14 kills, achieving her second double-double of the season. Kemavor is one of only seven middle blockers in BYU’s rally-scoring era to record a double-double, the fifth to achieve more than one in a season, and the first since 2012. This is her first Big 12 weekly award.
Van Gorp averaged 4.11 digs per set, ranking seventh in the Conference, while ISU faced No. 8 Kansas and K-State. Her 20 digs against the Jayhawks were the most in the match, marking her third game with over 20 digs, and her 17 digs against K-State extended her double-digit dig streak to five matches. This is the kinesiology major’s first league recognition.
