While the Nebraska Cornhuskers are close to completing their 2025 recruiting class, they are still actively pursuing some recruits, including Chase Loftin.

Standing at 6-foot-6 and weighing 215 pounds, Loftin is a four-star tight end from Millard South in Omaha, Nebraska. He previously played at Elkhorn North before transferring for his senior year and committed to Florida State over the summer.

Loftin’s commitment to Florida State has diminished following the team’s rough 1-7 start this season, including a recent 36-14 loss to in-state rival Miami. As a result, he has shown signs of considering a switch to a program closer to home.

Experts from On3’s Steve Wiltfong, Noles247’s Zach Blostein, and Husker247’s Mike Schaefer all predict Loftin will choose Nebraska. He is scheduled to visit the Cornhuskers this weekend for the UCLA game, according to Rivals.

If Loftin joins Nebraska, he would become part of a class currently ranked 25th in the 2025 cycle and would be the eighth four-star recruit in that class. Nebraska has one tight end committed so far: three-star Bear Tenney. Last year, the Huskers signed four tight ends, including four-star Carter Nelson and three-stars Ian Flynt, Keelan Smith, and Eric Ingwerson. They also added Mac Markway from LSU via the transfer portal, but he has been sidelined with an injury.

Recently, junior tight end Thomas Fidone has had a standout performance, recording 10 receptions for 146 yards over the past two games. This level of production, along with the interest from freshman five-star quarterback Dylan Raiola in targeting tight ends, makes Nebraska an attractive option for recruits, despite the competitive depth at the position.

According to MaxPreps, Loftin has recorded 36 receptions for 587 yards and nine touchdowns this season. His team, Millard South, boasts an 8-1 record and is the No. 2 seed in Nebraska’s largest playoff classification. They will face Papillion-LaVista South in the playoffs this Friday.
