Huskers dominate No. 12 Oregon in late-night showdown
The No. 2 Nebraska Cornhuskers traveled to the west coast for a late-night showdown with their new Big Ten opponent, the No. 12 Oregon Ducks. Despite the 9:00 p.m. CT start time, the Huskers maintained their momentum, sweeping the Ducks (25-12, 26-24, 25-18) to keep their Big Ten record spotless.
Nebraska’s defense was strong once again, limiting Oregon to 37 kills from 120 attacks with a .133 hitting percentage. The Ducks made 27 errors throughout the match, while Nebraska committed only 14. Overall, Nebraska recorded 44 kills from 108 attacks.
Harper Murray and Taylor Landfair led Nebraska’s offense, combining for 26 kills from 56 attacks, both achieving attack percentages over .400. Murray finished with 14 kills and ten digs, earning her fourth double-double of the season, while Landfair posted 13 kills for her fourth double-digit kill match this season.
Setter Bergen Reilly contributed a team-high 33 assists, nine digs, and three kills from six attacks. Lexi Rodriguez led with 14 digs, moving past Kayla Banwarth for second in school history for career digs. Rodriguez now has 1,720 career digs, needing 171 more to break Justine Wong-Orantes’ school record.
Nebraska’s record now stands at 23-1 overall and 13-0 in conference play. The Huskers will stay on the west coast to play the Washington Huskies on Saturday night, with the first serve scheduled for 9:30 p.m. on Big Ten Network.
