The Los Angeles Dodgers struck gold in last winter’s free agency by signing outfielder Teoscar Hernández to a one-year deal. Hernández excelled in Dodger blue, playing a crucial role in the team’s journey to a World Series title in 2024.
Now a free agent, Hernández has the freedom to sign with any team. While he has expressed a desire to remain with the Dodgers, financial considerations are likely to influence his decision.
According to FanSided’s Nick Villano, Hernández is unlikely to return to Los Angeles for the 2025 season. Instead, Villano predicts the star outfielder will make a surprising move to the Minnesota Twins.
“After the disappointing end to their season, the Minnesota Twins aren’t expected to stay quiet this offseason,” Villano noted. “Although the team is exploring a sale, which often leads to tighter financial oversight, they can’t afford to let the offseason slip by. Plus, Hernández isn’t asking for a deal that would significantly impact the franchise’s valuation.”
Spotrac estimates Hernández will command a three-year, $71 million contract, a figure well within the Twins’ budget, especially if he becomes their marquee signing of the offseason.
Landing Hernández would be a major boost for the Twins, though the Dodgers are unlikely to let him walk without a fight. Given his on-field impact and loyalty to the team, Los Angeles may offer him a strong contract to keep him in their lineup.
