Vale Brian Johnson: After a Tough Battle with Cancer, the Legendary Rocker Has Sadly Passed Away

The world of rock music is in mourning today, as news breaks that Brian Johnson, the powerhouse frontman of legendary rock band AC/DC, has passed away following a courageous battle with cancer. He was 77. AC/DC's Brian Johnson Preps New Memoir 'The Lives of Brian'

Born in Dunston, England, and long considered an honorary Aussie thanks to his decades of thunderous vocals with AC/DC, Brian’s influence on rock ‘n’ roll is nothing short of iconic. His unmistakable voice, high-octane energy, and no-nonsense attitude helped shape the sound of a generation.

Johnson rose to prominence in 1980 when he stepped in as AC/DC’s lead singer following the tragic death of Bon Scott. It was a near-impossible task — but Brian not only filled the shoes, he stomped through them and left his own blazing trail. His first album with the band, Back in Black, remains one of the best-selling albums of all time, a thunderous tribute to Bon and a defining moment for the band.

For decades, Brian brought stadiums to life with anthems like “You Shook Me All Night Long,” “Hells Bells,” and “For Those About to Rock (We Salute You).” His gravelly vocals and blue-collar spirit made him a hero to fans across the globe — particularly here in Australia, where AC/DC is proudly claimed as our own.

In 2016, Brian was forced to step back from touring due to serious hearing issues, but in true rock ‘n’ roll fashion, he made a roaring return in 2020 with the band’s album Power Up, reminding the world that his fire was far from gone.

His passing marks the end of an era — not just for AC/DC fans, but for the world of music. Few could belt out a chorus like Brian, and even fewer could do it with such passion, humility, and grit.

Brian Johnson wasn’t just a voice. He was a thunderstorm in a cap. A rock legend. A true battler.

To his family, friends, bandmates, and millions of fans around the world — we send our love, our thanks, and our final salute.

For those about to rock… we salute you, Brian.
