Four Motives for Appreciating Cam Coleman’s Dedication to Auburn

Cam Coleman’s pledge to the Auburn Tigers gave the 2024 recruiting class access to a top prospect who can benefit the Plains right away. Here’s why the 5-star recruit’s commitment to Hugh Freeze and the Auburn coaching staff should excite Auburn supporters.

1) It’s not common to find instant-impact wide receivers on trees.

Coleman is distinct due to his physical attributes. The 6-foot-4, 190-pound Phenix City (Ala.) Central prospect has proven to be a feisty playmaker even after making a catch. Additionally, he is extremely agile in the end zone. See the video that Coleman retweeted below:

2) Examine the programs Auburn defeated in order to acquire Coleman.

The team that had the best chance of landing Coleman was probably Florida State, which is positioned to make the College Football Playoffs.

Coleman had previously committed to Texas A&M, and numerous other universities were interested in signing this young man’s national letter of intent, including Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, LSU, Florida, and others.

Elite recruiting contest victories, like the one with Coleman, must become more frequent at Auburn if the university is to be a contender for the national championship once more. For Freeze and his team, this was just one more positive step.

3) Defenses will need to adapt to Coleman and Auburn.

Opposing defensive coordinators would have been aware of Coleman’s talent as soon as he arrived on the Plains. Put him on the double? If so, it opens up the possibility of one-on-one play for any other Auburn skill player.

Remember that there are three more extremely talented wide receivers in this 2024 Auburn recruiting class, including Perry Thompson, who is rated as a potential 5-star. Additionally, there is still talent being developed on the Auburn roster.

Coleman will have had nearly limitless options if he hadn’t been selected for a double team. Once more, Coleman has shown himself to be a unique talent, and his qualities will be useful in the collegiate game. He might very well turn in some major performances by September’s end.

4) Auburn will alter their red zone offense.

Coleman is the type of receiver the Tigers will use to “throw it up to him” once Auburn has reached the red zone. Coleman has an unteachable advantage due to his wingspan and athletics.

Indeed, the SEC has long been regarded as a premier league for cornerbacks. Coleman’s physical prowess and size will present obstacles that most cornerbacks will be unable to overcome, even by those SEC standards.
