Steelers Cut Former Pittsburgh Running Back

Former Pitt RB Qadree Ollison Back Home with the Steelers

Qadree Ollison, a former star of the Pitt Panthers, is no longer with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Pittsburgh — Qadree Ollison, a former running back for the Pitt Panthers, was immediately at home when he was added to the Pittsburgh Steelers practice squad earlier in the season, but his tenure with the hometown team is now complete.

In order to make room for linebacker David Perales to join their practice squad—the team is currently suffering from an injury-related shortage at that position—the Steelers released Ollison, their former neighbor from Pitt.

Arriving for the first time in September, Ollison was added to the Steelers’ active roster for a single game—a Week _ matchup against the Cleveland Browns—but he did not play before being placed back on the practice squad and ultimately cut.

Ollison joined the Falcons in each of his first four seasons after being selected in the fifth round in 2019. After being cut in 2022, he played a few games on the active roster and spent some time on the Dallas Cowboys practice squad before being cut once more. Throughout his career, Ollison has played in 22 games and has gained 158 yards and five touchdowns on 44 carries.

Ollison’s career at Pitt contributed to the explosive rushing attack that led the Panthers to their first-ever ACC Championship in 2018. In addition, he won the 2015 ACC Rookie of the Year award for his 1,100+ yards and 11 touchdowns gained through rushes during James Conner’s season-ending ACL injury. As a Panther, Ollison amassed 2,859 yards and 29 touchdowns via rushing.
