ESPN reported that Michigan football was a victim in the Catapult breach, not a party responsible for the incident.

The ongoing drama in the world of college football has taken a new turn, particularly for Michigan football. Amidst a series of scandals, including the sign-stealing controversy, attention has now shifted to a different revelation.

Alabama wide receiver Isaiah Bond stirred the pot by revealing that the Tide had ceased using Catapult film systems on their iPads, opting instead for group film sessions in team facilities. While some speculated that Michigan football might be involved in questionable activities, the Wolverines clarified on Friday that they had discontinued the use of Catapult on individual iPads in early November for precautionary reasons.

A significant development came on Friday when Yahoo’s Dan Wetzel reported that Michigan is not at the center of an investigated Catapult breach. Catapult itself issued a statement in the morning, stating that its internal investigation found no breach, though the inquiry is ongoing.

Adding to the intrigue, ESPN’s Adam Rittenberg and Tom VanHaaren reported that a Michigan football team spokesperson clarified that the Wolverines are not being accused of the breach but are considered victims of another program illegally accessing their Catapult. The investigation was initiated after an unnamed football program was alleged to have accessed video from other programs.

The spokesperson from Michigan stated that they are not being accused of the violation and believe they were one of the schools targeted in the breach. In response, Michigan took precautions by shutting down access to its Cloud and video through Catapult in early November to prevent unauthorized access to their film.

The question arises: Was it a team on Michigan’s schedule in November? This could potentially implicate Purdue, Penn State, Maryland, or Ohio State as suspects, at least from the perspective of those within Schembechler Hall.

The investigation is ongoing, and the outcome remains uncertain.
