Celtic is considering the possibility of securing the services of the Ipswich Town goalkeeper.
Many Celtic supporters are eager for the club to secure a new goalkeeper soon. Joe Hart has been the primary choice since joining from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer of 2021, contributing both on and off the field. However, as he approaches 37 by the end of the season, concerns have arisen about his recent performances.
In light of this, Celtic is in search of a goalkeeper for the long term to succeed Hart. Among the names linked, Vaclav Hladky has stood out for his impressive performances with Ipswich Town, currently second in the Championship table. Hladky’s contract with Ipswich Town expires in June 2024, and Celtic has expressed interest in him.
The question remains whether Celtic envisions Hladky as their future number one or as a backup option in case of departures like Benjamin Siegrist. It’s worth noting that Hladky was playing in League Two not too long ago and was not the starting goalkeeper for Ipswich Town in the previous two seasons. Additionally, at 33 years old, he may not represent a long-term solution for Celtic, a crucial factor as the club seeks a replacement for Hart.
