Joey Porter Jr. exits Steelers game due to injury.
In Week 17 against the Seattle Seahawks, the Pittsburgh Steelers’ defense faced a concerning setback when cornerback Joey Porter Jr. sustained an injury in the first half. Porter Jr. exited the game during the second quarter after making a tackle on Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf. Following the play, he remained on the ground, prompting trainers to attend to him. Subsequently, he was taken to the medical tent for further assessment.
As of now, the nature of the injury is undisclosed. The Steelers’ cornerback situation is already challenging, with Patrick Peterson filling in at safety due to Minkah Fitzpatrick’s injury. If Porter Jr. is unavailable, Pittsburgh will rely on Levi Wallace and James Pierre as outside cornerbacks, with Chandon Sullivan and Elijah Riley on the inside.
Throughout the season, Porter Jr. has served as the team’s primary cornerback, often tasked with covering the opponent’s top wide receiver, including Metcalf in the recent Seahawks game.
Updates on Joey Porter Jr.’s injury will be provided by the Steelers as more information becomes accessible.
