Brendan Rodgers, the manager of Celtic, has spoken about the future of goalie Joe Hart. The Englishman’s Parkhead contract is set to end this summer, but the manager has stated that negotiations about his future will start soon.
Although Hart may continue, many believe the Hoops could use a new number one. “I love working with Joe, he’s a great guy,” the manager (Football Scotland) remarked. I hope he keeps going. We haven’t discussed it. I believe that at that age, he is just content to be playing. Thus, when the season is almost over, he and I will talk.
Thus far in the 2023–24 season, Hart has started nearly all of Celtic’s games. Right now, nobody in the team seems to be able to replace the seasoned goalie in the net.
But with Benjamin Siegrist eager to leave and Scott Bain, who Rodgers has long considered a solid backup, he has no competition for the gloves.
Hart has made 133 appearances in green and white during his first 2.5 years in Glasgow. Although he has brought stability to the goal, many feel it is time for an upgrade.
Although Croatian stopper Dominik Livakovic appeared to be of real interest to the winners last summer, no other “keepers” have since been connected to Parkhead. Although it doesn’t appear likely that one will be brought in this month, things might change when the off-season rolls around again.
