Anthony Joseph is reporting that Celtic and Lecce are unable to agree a loan fee for Gus Lagerbielke to join the Italian side.
The defender, who only moved to Celtic from Elfsborg in August, looks certain to be leaving this month after seemingly falling to Brendan Rodgers’ fifth-choice central defense.
A month ago, Lagerbielke came off the bench to help Celtic win their first Champions League home game in ten years with a header against Feyenoord; but, since then, Cameron Carter-Vickers has not started a game for either Stephen Welsh or Maik Nawrocki.
When everyone is healthy and available, the hoops have an abundance of central defenders because Liam Scales has been the standout of every game since the end of August.
When Lagerbielke moved from Elfsborg at the beginning of the season, he did sign a five-year contract, but his prospects at Celtic now seem dim due to the talk of a loan agreement.
