Sunderland are hoping to sign a centre-forward before the January transfer window slams shut and a new name has reportedly cropped up on the club’s radar.
Before the January transfer window closes, Sunderland is looking to add a center-forward, and a fresh player has apparently caught their attention.
Even so, Sunderland has managed to sneak back into the playoffs under new head coach Michael Beale, though they are presently only one point out of contention. But the team has the opportunity to bolster their roster in front of the final months of the season during the January transfer window.
The striker position is one area where the Black Cats are attempting to bolster themselves. Talisman Jack Clarke has scored 12 of Sunderland’s 36 goals this season in the Championship, accounting for 33.3% of the team’s total points.
In addition, Sunderland currently has Hemir Semedo, Mason Burstow, Jewison Bennette, Eliezer Mayenda, and Nazariy Rusyn as their five center-forwards. Out of the five, Rusyn’s goal against Preston North End on New Year’s Day was the only one to score.
Sam Gallagher, a striker for Blackburn Rovers, has reportedly been added by Sunderland to their list of possible targets for coming winter, per The Northern Echo.
