Friday night, bet on the Nuggets to cover the Celtics as the road underdogs.

The Boston Celtics lost Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals at home to the Miami Heat, but they came very close to playing the Denver Nuggets in the NBA Finals the previous season.

It is unclear if this matchup will happen in June, but it promises to be an exciting contest on Friday night as the Nuggets travel to Beantown in an attempt to bounce back from their Tuesday loss to Philadelphia.

Denver is 5-0 following a loss during a period of time when it has not lost consecutive games since December 8. In their past 12 games, the Nuggets have a dismal 4-8 record against the spread (ATS), including four straight road non-covers.

With a 20-0 start at TD Garden, the Celtics are the only team remaining in the league that has not dropped a home game. As a single-digit home favorite, Boston has a 7-3 ATS record; however, in its last four home games, it has laid double digits.

Boston is coming off its third straight victory, a 117-98 thumping of San Antonio on Wednesday. The Celtics have kept consecutive opponents to fewer than 100 points for the second time this season.

The Nuggets are unlikely to continue Boston’s double-digit defensive run to three games because they have only scored fewer than 100 points three times in 42 games.

The Celtics had defeated the Nuggets six straight times prior to their most recent meeting, which ended in a 123-111 loss at Ball Arena on January 1, 2023.

The two teams are at full strength for the Friday night match. The only noteworthy player on the Denver injury report is Aaron Gordon (shoulder, probable), while the Boston Celtics’ injury report does not include Derrick White or Kristaps Porzingis, who has averaged more than 20 points in 12 career games against Nikola Jokic.

Expect a fiercely contested, close game in a nationally televised showcase that could serve as a preview of the NBA Finals and have MVP implications (Jokic vs. Jayson Tatum).

This is a nice chance to support the Nuggets in an uncommon three-possession underdog role, especially since Denver has proven to be a reliable team to bet off a loss.
