In life, there are certain people you meet one moment and forget about the next. Others, nevertheless, make a profound effect.
These are the kinds of people who are difficult to describe since, in my experience, they don’t come around very often. They simply have an aura about them. To put it mildly, I recently caught up with one of them. I had the pleasure of running with Philippe Clement at the team hotel last Saturday night after dinner while I was at the Rangers training camp in La Manga last week.
Since his appointment, I hadn’t had the opportunity to introduce myself to the manager before, and I won’t go into any specifics about what was spoken during those about twenty minutes. We had a great conversation about football and Scottish life in general. What I will say, though, is that I left that conversation smiling because it validated my suspicions, which I had formed even from a distance.
