Mark Ashton of Ipswich Town FC establishes a new charitable facility
Mark Ashton, the CEO of Ipswich Town FC, has officially opened a brand-new workshop in the town.
Thursday saw the official launch of Genesis Orwell Mencap’s new workshop.
Adults with learning impairments will be able to gain work experience at the new Green Bike Project location on Wright Road. There, they will learn how to repair bicycles, which are subsequently sold to fund the charity’s operations.
Under the direction of the Ipswich-based construction company SEH French, the project was finished without profit.
KLH Architects, Superstructures, tbf Scaffolding, Jarrolds, H2O Heating & Plumbing, Ace Bugg Brickwork, Ipswich Engineering, M&S Contractors, Brook Electrical, Plasufix, Cadman Flooring, and S&G Industrial Roofing were among the other Suffolk companies who provided help.

“Having this new facility is a huge milestone for Genesis and it would not be a reality without the crucial support of everyone involved,” stated Rob Hart, the charity’s chief executive.
The project’s completion was made possible by the kind donations to the charity and the non-profit services provided by the participating businesses.
“Projects like this are a great example of the brilliant community we have in Ipswich,” stated Neil Pryke, contracts manager at SEH French.
“We are happy to have contributed to the creation of the new workshop, which offers The Green Bike Project a fitting year-round home.
“We appreciate all of the companies who have given back and provided their services without making a profit. We hope that even more individuals will be able to benefit from the wonderful job that the organization does.
Having taken up the role in the summer of 2021, Mr. Ashton declared: “It’s an amazing project, it’s at the heart of the local community.”
“After moving to Ipswich two and a half years ago, I’ve been astounded by this incredible community and the way it functions.
“This kind of project embodies this community and its stakeholders—when people work together, incredible things can be accomplished.”
“It is wonderful to see so many people who have contributed to this fantastic project,” Ipswich councilwoman Lynn Mortimer continued.
“SEH French and the other nearby companies did an outstanding job constructing this structure. I want to express my gratitude to everyone who has helped in this community.
