On Monday, Division II offensive lineman Alan Herron committed to Penn State through the NCAA Transfer Portal cycle, announcing that he would play for the Nittany Lions in 2024. Herron shared a post on Instagram announcing his choice.

Herron attended Shorter University in Rome, Georgia, for two seasons. When he signed with the program in 2022, his listed weight was 270 pounds, but he is a 6-6, 310-pound lineman. Herron’s bio at Shorter University states that he played high school football at Banneker High in College Park, Georgia, and that he is originally from Jamaica. At Shorter, Herron played left tackle, a position that will open up upon the departure of All-American Olu Fashanu for the 2024 NFL Draft.

After registering for the NCAA Transfer Portal on November 16, Herron was contacted by several schools, including Syracuse, Auburn, Miami, Clemson, North Carolina State, and Central Florida. He is still eligible for two seasons.
